Side effects of the Enzyme-Therapy

In principle, treatment with Proteolytic enzymes has no side effects – after all, the enzymes are naturally produced by our bodies or part of our nourishment.

There are, in fact, a few exceptions:

  1. Some people react with heavy gas formations and diarrhea. In this case, the dose should be reduced at first.
  2. Noticeable is also the altered scent of the defecation.
  3. A further, often observed and surely very positive side effect is an advance of the general well being.

Contraindication of the Enzyme-Therapy

  1. Some people have a pineapple-allergy; in this case the therapy cannot be applied.
  2. People who take blood thinners (anticoagulants) should ask their physician, if they may take enzymes, because enzymes reduce bloods capability to clot.
  3. Hemophiliacs must not take enzyme-preparations.
  4. Patients with pulmonary emphysema should not take enzymes.
  5. Patients with thrombocytopenia (< 80.000) should not take enzymes.
  6. Before a very “bloody surgery” like hip- or gynecological surgeries, it could be better to stop taking Enzyme tablets 4 days before the surgery.

Costs saving by Enzyme-Therapy

  1. Enzyme therapy reduces healing time for 20–25% which reduces time for convalescence and reduces days unable to work.
  2. The same is valid for athletes, they don’t loose so many trainings days, which save money.
  3. NSAIDs intake brings side effect for the patients, which have to be treated, which needs further costs. Enzyme-Therapy has no side effect and can substitute or partly substitute NSAIDs. So the costs for further treatments are saved.
  4. Radiotherapy can induce early and late side effects in the surrounding organs like fibrosis of     organs (lung, bladder) or severe inflammation (Mucositis) of the gut or oesophagus.     Prevention of these side effects saves discomfort for the patient and saves money for additional treatment.
  5. Enzyme-Therapy supports the effect of antibiotics and bewares the patients often for a second antibiotic regimen, which saves money.
  6. Enzyme-Therapy for dogs reduces worm infection and you save money because you don’t need conventional worm infection treatment.
